Powhatan Workforce Development Highlights

Learn more about how Powhatan County is utilizing various workforce development strategies to bolster our county's current and future workforce:

Powhatan County Public Schools

We are proud to have a strong relationship with the CTE/CWD programs offered by Powhatan County Public Schools. Beginning in middle school, these program areas, such as agriculture, business, cosmetology, culinary arts, engineering, electrical and carpentry trades, and more offer our county's students the ability to learn hands-on skills that have the potential to lead to future employment here in Powhatan. Our department often connects these students with local businesses who are looking to take on interns or educate youth about the work that they do. The following article is just one of many examples of these types of relationships coming to fruition:

Virginia Community College System

We are also able to connect our local business owners with the Virginia Community College System to further develop relationships between the county's future workforce and those looking to hire professionals with a community college level education.
